About Jack

Jack Hoey is an accomplished executive with unusual breadth of skills in finance, operations, and marketing.  His 30-year career encompasses successful roles in both entrepreneurial and multinational corporate environments, and board leadership for a wide range of nonprofit boards.

For 15 years, Jack led Coastal Glass Distributors, based in Charleston, South Carolina.  When Jack joined Coastal in 1994, the company was a small regional wholesale distributor.  During his tenure, Jack built the company into the largest independent fabricator of custom architectural glass products in the Southeastern U.S., with annual sales exceeding $26 million.   Coastal recorded nine consecutive years of double-digit sales growth, achieving recognition as one of the fastest growing companies in the region, state, and nation (INC5000 list in 2007 and 2008).  Coastal’s performance was fostered by internal culture of cooperation and service, and the company was recognized from 2002 onward as one of the best companies to work for in the U.S. glass and metals industry by US Glass.

Jack began his career with Rockwell International, a global manufacturer.  After earning a B.S. in economics and an MBA, Jack spent 12 years with Rockwell in finance and operations management roles marked by increasing responsibility.  In his final role with Rockwell, Jack led a $46 million business unit, achieving accelerated sales growth during his tenure.

In the early ‘90s, Jack worked independently, providing financial and strategic consulting services to small service businesses in the U.S., and developing new business opportunities in Eastern Europe following the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Jack has also provided distinguished leadership in a variety of nonprofit roles.  He was awarded the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Award for Compassion for his leadership in serving the homeless through Crisis Ministries in Charleston.  Jack has led the trustee board of Seacoast Church since 2002, while the church grew from 1,000 members to 12,000 members spread across a dozen sites in three states.  He has also provided board leadership for the Patriots Point Foundation, the Coastal Community Foundation, Pioneers, the Lowcountry Manufacturers Council, and the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments.

Jack and his wife Penny have been married for 28 years and have three children, ages 19 to 26.  In his free time, Jack likes to read.
